Passing of Life Member Chuck Potter
Quinton Charles “Chuck” Potter, of Goldsboro, passed away on October 27, 2023, at his home. He was 93.
Chuck was born in Troy, NY on April 16, 1930, to the late Quinton Fabin Potter and Hazel Gardner Potter. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Vocational High School in 1948. His parents moved to Goldsboro where they opened “Potter’s Store.” Chuck moved to Goldsboro shortly thereafter to help out and eventually took over the store.
Chuck joined the Goldsboro Volunteer Fire Department in 1952 and was a Life Member. He worked at Reichold Chemical in Cheswold Delaware and was a substitute mail carrier until becoming a full-time rural carrier for the Postal Service.
In addition to volunteering at Goldsboro VFD, Chuck enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing shuffleboard, camping, reading, watching football, but he especially loved to dance, in fact that is how he met his wife Betty, on the dance floor at Ingleside Community Hall. The two were married in April 1963. He was so proud of the house that he built for his family.
Chuck is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Patty Hollingsworth (John), daughter-in-law Wendy Potter, two grandchildren Justin Felgenhour (Chrystyn) and Chase Potter, three great grandchildren Lily, Khylee, and Hazel Rose. He is also survived by brothers Walter Potter (Georgeann), John Potter and Richard Potter, along with a host of other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Quinton and Hazel Potter, siblings Arthur Potter, Albert Potter, Carol Murphy, and Paul Potter, and his son Quinton Kenneth Potter.
There will be a visitation on Thursday November 2, 2023, from 12-1 PM with a funeral service beginning at 1. Burial will immediately follow.
