David Wilkes King of Wlimington, DE died Thursday January 26,2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice Center, Wilmington. He was 92.
Mr. King was born January 23,1920 in Anniston, Alabama to the late William King and Leila W. King.
He was a captain in the US Army Infantry during WWII. Mr. King managed the T. Noble Jarrell Cannery, of Goldsboro, MD for 20 years and was chief of Goldsboro Fire Co. He taught engineering at Del Tech Georgetown Campus for 25 years and was a perspective employer scout for his students. He was cjaor,am pf Delaware Valley CFO and a member of Calvary United Medthodist Church for many years. He taught young adult Sunday school class and sang in the choir. Also he was active in Full Gospel Business Men. Mr. King enjoyed gardening, baking bread, reading, teaching and volunteer work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Bess Neese Jarrell, brother Neil King, second wife Agnes Dixon King and son, Harry E. Dixon.
He is survived by his daughters Betsy LaRosa and Debby Stromwasser both of Wilmington, DE, Joy Dixon of Newark, DE, Deborah Pick of Redding, CA; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:30, Wednesday February 1,2012 at Tolbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
