Working Combine Fire - River Bridge Road near Bee Tree Road

Ar 1431 hours, members from GVFC were alerted for for a vehicle fire in the area of River Bridge Road near Bee Tree Road in Henderson. While enroute to the scene POV, Chief JT Bartz (715) could see a large plume of black smoke in the sky in the area of the call. Upon his arrival, Chief Bartz found a John Deere combine well involoved with possible exposure to a structure. The assignment was upgraded to a full box alarm, which added Marydel (Station 56) and Greensboro (Station 600) to the call. Additionally, Chief Bartz reported that the incident was approximately 1/2 mile into Marydel's first due area. MVFC Chief Buffy Madden (56-15) arrived POV a short time later and assumed River Bridge Road Command. Engine 703 (717-D.Wothers) arrived and made an initial attack on the fire before the arrival of units from Station 56. Tanker 706 and Engine 702 (719-R. Dixon) also made a response to the call. Units worked for approximately 90 minutes before returning to quarters. Following the incident, reports were received that the thick, black column of smoke could be seen from New Bridge Road in Denton and Sudlersville in Queen Anne's County.
