Wednesday, July 4, 2018
Goldsboro VFC pariticipated in a Rural Water Supply Drill hosted by Denton VFC on Sunday, 10-10-10. The drill consisted of multiple companies. The object of the drill was to sustain a gallon per minute flow rate of water by shuttling it from a draft site. The drill was held at North Caroline High School. Engine 304 (Denton) laid approximately 1200 ft of 5" supply hose and utilized a deck gun. Engine Tanker 86 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) laid a 4" supply line from the school parking lot and was used as relay engine. The draft site was located in West Denton. Engine 703, Engine 52 (Cordova), and Water Supply 25 (Clinton) drafted and filled all tankers involved in the suttle. The tankers that were used to shuttle were Tanker 306 (Denton), Tanker 53(Cordova), Tanker 20 (Oxford), Engine Tanker 201 (Preston), and Tanker 100 (Pocomoke City). The tankers transported water to North Caroline High School, where they off-loaded into nurse tankers: Tanker 606 (Greensboro) and Tanker 706 (Goldsboro). The nurse-tankers then supplied Engine-Tanker 86 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro). After approximately 2 hours, an 800 gpm flow was obtained and maintained. The shuttle was approximately 4 miles round trip.
