MVC - Vehicle into the Woods - Goldsboro Road @ Hollingsworth Circle

At 0951 hours, the Volunteers from The Hub were dispatched for a motor vehicle collision on Goldsboro Road in the area of Hollingsworth Circle. As the call was in their neighborhood, Officer 722 (W. Durham) and Officer 718 (D. O'Neal) arrived on location before any emergecny equipment to find a Ford Windstar mini van off the roadway into a wooded area. Paramedic 17 (A. Sherman/B. Eskridge) and Engine 702 (717/D. Wothers) arrived a short time later, with Assistant Chief Wothers establishing Command. Brush 705 (719/R. Dixon) also made a response, providing traffic control and support at the scene. Investigation revealed that the sole occupant of the vehicle, a juvenile, was self-extricated and was reporting no injuries. The vehicle was headed south on Goldsboro Road when it left the roadway and traveled through a yard and open field before crossing over Hollingsworth Circle and coming to rest when it struck a tree head-on. EMS personnel checked the subject over and obtained a patient refusal when a parent arrived on location. Crews were able to mitigate a fluid spill and provide scene clean up once the vehicle was removed from the woods. The Maryland State Police is investigating the crash. Units worked on the scene for approximately one hour.
