Working Brush Assignment - Castle Hall Road/Lentz Road

Wednesday, July 4, 2018
At 1425 hours, just as halftime activities commenced during the Ravens/Bengals game, members from The Hub were dispatched for a brush fire on Castle Hall Road at Lentz Road just outside of town. Officer 715 (JT Bartz) arrived on location in his POV and confirmed approximately a quarter of an acre of field/grass on fire before establishing Castle Hall Road Command. Brush 705 (F/F Winters) arrived and made a quick knock on the fire from Lentz Road while PM 17 (D. Twigg/J. Reece) set up traffic control. Engine 703 (716/B. Cahall) arrived and helped wet down hot spots from Castle Hall Road. Engine 701 (717/Wothers) responded and filled Brush 705. Crews were assisted by CHVFD Officer 503 (S. Hurlock) and Maryland DNR/ Forestry Division (D. Albers) who were in the area at the time of dispatch...a special thanks goes out to them! Units operated on the scene for less than 30 minutes before going available. It appeared that the fire may have been caused by some type of fireworks detonated from the roadway.
