Wednesday, July 4, 2018
The silence of a hot and muggy night was broken just after 0200 hours when members were alerted for a serious MVC involving a motorcycle less than 100 yards west of Station 700. Paramedic 17 (Bill Wilson/N. Messick) arrived to find a motorcycle and its operator lying in the front yard of a residence. The operator was covered with pieces of the two sections of fence struck during the collision. Brush 705 (EMS 7-2/C.Peris) arrived shortly thereafter as did Chief JT Bartz (715), who was POV. Command was established and aviation was requested for a Category B/Priorty 2 patient, who was suffering from extensive trauma to his face, torso and lower extremities. Engine 703 (719/R. Dixon) responded to the rear of Station 700 and established a landing zone for Maryland State Police Aviation - Trooper 6. The patient was airlifted from the scene to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to receive treatment for his injuries. Units operated for nearly an hour before turning the scene over to MSP for investigation.
