Just before 1600 hours, Station 700 was alerted to assist Station 56 (Marydel) with a working garage fire in their first due area in Delaware. Units arrived to find a 28x30 attached garage well involved with extension to the double-wide residence. Engine 703 (717/D. Wothers) arrived and sent its staffing to the scene with SCBA and handtools to assist with extinguishment and extensive overhaul. The engine was also used to shuttle water to the scene from a fill site in Hartly. Tanker 706 (715/JT Bartz) arrived and was used as a nurse tanker, while Chief Bartz handled the duties of water supply. Under the direction of Chief B. Madden (56-15), personnel from Marydel and Goldsboro, along with units from Hartly, Camden-Wyoming, Felton and Dover worked for just over 4 hours before returning to quarters. A special thanks goes out to the EMS staff from Marydel and Hartly who worked hard to keep everyone safe and cool with plenty of water and cold towels. Another special thank you goes out to the members of Station 400 (Ridgely) who transferred with Engine 401 and provided coverage to The Hub during our alarm.
