Station Plays Host to the Cub Scouts - 700 Old Line Road Goldsboro
Wednesday, July 4, 2018
At 1300 hours the station welcomed members of Cub Scout Pack 390, who came for a tour in order to fulfill a requirement for a new badge on community and citizenship.
Lt. Ron Dixon and Firefighter/EMT Courtney Utberg began by giving the scouts a short talk about what it means to volunteer in the community. In the middle of the lecture, the group got an unexpected surprise. They watched a real-life response, as Paramedic 17 was dispatched on a call for breathing problems.
Next, the two gave the Pack a guided tour around the station, showing them the various apparatus and equipment. FF/EMT Utberg donned her gear and demonstrated the use of a SCBA. The scouts were then taken for a quick spin around The Hub in Engine 703. Upon returning to the station, the group was met by Chief JT Bartz and EMS Captain Chrissy Bartz, who had fire chief hats for everyone.
A good time was had by all. Station 700 wishes all of these young men the best of luck in their scouting endeavors!
