Just before 1900 hours, Stations 56 (Marydel), 700 and 51 (Hartly, DE) were alerted for a working structure fire on Temple Road near Templeville Road. Upon arriving in the area, it was discovered that the call was actually in the rear of a residence on Templeville Road. Engine 703 (717/D. Wothers) arrived on location to find a metal storage container full of hay well involved. A handline was placed into service and an aggressive attack was made. Chief Buffy Madden (56-15) arrived and assumed command. The fire was confined to the container and all exposures were protected. Personnel remained on the scene for just over 90 minutes removing the hay from the container to ensure that the fire was thoroughly extinguished. In addition to Engine 703, responding 700 units included Tanker 706 (722/W. Durham), Engine 702 (719/R. Dixon) and Brush 705 (F/F C. Peris).
