Two Fatal Incidents
Jarrell Road and Still Road
Thursday, March 18, 2010

Station 700 was alerted for Rescue Box 7-2, with Caroline Dispatch reporting a person trapped under a car. B705 responded shortly after with 2 (J.T. Bartz), PM17 with 2 and E702 with 6 (D.Wothers). B705 was first to arrive. Upon arrival of fire apparatus, the subject was found to have been removed by family members and CPR was being performed. 715 (J.T. Bartz) assumed Jarrell Road Command. PM17 arrived and started Pt. care. E702 arrived and set up scene lights and help load pt. on a backboard and then loaded the patient into PM17. It was determined that the subject had been trapped for an unknown time, and was unable to be revived. Priority 4 was granted and command requested a Medical Examiner to the scene. E703 staged on Jarrell Road with a crew of 5 (J.Reed) before command released them. Command P/S/U/C holding B705, PM17, E702 awaiting CCSD, and the ME. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family and friends.

About 2 hours later, Station 700 and 56 (Marydel) was alerted for a MVC with rollover and ejection. It was unknown to Caroline Dispatch at the time of the call if the incident was in Maryland or Delaware, so both stations were alerted. The exact address was just into Delaware on Still Road. 56-15 (B.Madden) was the first to arrive and confirmed the status as reported. E702 with a crew of 6 (B.Cahall) arrived and stablized the vehicle. B705 with a crew of 2 (D.Wothers) assisted with pt. care. E703 with a crew of 3 (J.T. Bartz) staged and began looking into the woods for additional patients. E56-1's crew pulled an attack line due to leaking fuel. R56's crew assisted with checking the woods. A Priority 4 was also granted and command P/S/U/C holding all units. Crews searched the woods with negative results. Command placed all 700 fire units in service. Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
